Lintels such as those offered by the ASL Lintech team are fixed under the wall to give it stability and durability to withstand external forces and to ensure the strength and durability you’ve come to expect of your building.
Like other types of lintels, structural lintels offered by our company exist and are designed with the primary goal of strengthening a weak point in a building’s structure in mind. While they are sometimes used for cosmetic purposes, lintels can also serve a fully technical purpose; this is the case of the structural lintels referred to on this page.
As we mentioned above, structural lintels in the cases that interest us are fixed under the shear wall to reinforce the meeting point between the wall and other building surfaces, whether it be the floor, the ceiling or a perpendicular wall.
It’s therefore very likely that you’ve never seen the structural lintels fixed to the shear walls of your building. This is good news!
